Air Force Maj. Michael A. Kwasnoski has returned to the U.S. after a deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Operation Enduring Freedom is the official name given to anti-terrorism military operations involving U.S. troops and allied coalition partners. Active duty and reserve component members from all branches of the U.S. armed forces have been deployed to support the war against global terrorism outside the borders of the United States. U.S. troops serve in South and Southwest Asia, Central Asia, the Arabian peninsula, islands in the Pacific, and Europe.
Kwasnoski, a commander with 13 years of military service, is normally assigned to the 43rd Comptroller Squadron at Pope Air Force Base, Fayetteville, N.C.
He is the son of Daniel and Marie Kwasnoski of N. Main St., Athens, Pa., and brother of Matthew J. Kwasnoski of Cheyenne Way, Gambrills, Md., and Lisa Lucas of Seahorse Run, Chesapeake, Va.
His wife, Margo, is the daughter of Sam and Margie Garcia of Carol Ann Ave., San Antonio, Texas.
The major graduated in 1991 from Athens Area High School, and received a bachelor's degree in 1995 from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania.
