Elizabeth Byrem Robbins of Troy, Pa., died peacefully Oct. 1, 2007, of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis at home with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Eleanor (Pomeroy) Byrem and her sister Margaret Byrem Daly.

She was born on Jan. 30, 1932, at the "Lying In Hospital", Canton Pa. She graduated from Penn State University in 1954 and lived in numerous places both in the United States and overseas. For the last twelve years she has resided on a farm in Troy, Pa. with her husband Clyde. Betty was a dietitian and a special education teacher retiring in 1995. Since moving to Troy, she has been very active as a volunteer at the Bradford County Library, the Bradford County Historical Society, the Bradford-Wyoming Counties Literacy Program where she served as a reading tutor, and, until recently, has served on the board of the Abuse and Rape Crisis Center and the Children and Youth Services. In addition to her husband Clyde, she is survived by her children, Jenny (Carver) Hills and Jim (Nancy) Robbins; and grandchildren, John-Michael and Josh Cross, Ben and Sam Robbins, Iris and Isabelle Hills and extended family.

A memorial service will take place at 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 8, 2007, at Vickery's Funeral Home, 110 West Main Street, Troy, Pa. The family will provide flowers.

Memorial donations may be made in Betty's memory to the AARC, P.O. Box 186, Towanda, Pa. 18848; the Bradford County Library, RD 3 Box 320, Troy, Pa. 16947 or Guthrie Hospice, RD 1, Box 154, Tomahawk Road, Towanda, Pa. 18848.
